Final Project ( Interview of sailboats )

In this interview I went to talk about one of the most important sports in the United Arab Emiratis. It’s the sailboat races. I went to Dubai to meet my grandfather Khalfan Abdulla Al Marzouqi; his age is 90. He is one of the people in Dubai who was using the sailboat. I was talking with him about this sport and what are the differences between the past and now.

First he told me about the past. In the past it was a hobby; a sport between the people in their area and without any prizes. But it was a game in our area. Also they use it to teach their children how to guide the boat and how to solve the problems when they came. Because when the high wind comes in the sea the leader should know how to control the boat.

And nowadays everything has change. Now the country makes many changes to this traditional sport. They have opened clubs for the marine sports; also they have put a huge amount of prizes for the winners.

And these are some of the races which the country made it:

Name of the race
Distance
Time taken
prizes
Alseer
53 to 56 mile
3 to 4 hours
I million they divide it between the winners from 1 to 20
Aldabeya
40 mile
2 to 3 hours
the winner from 1 to 3 they give them cars, and the rest they give them money by arrangement to the 50
Other races between Dubai and Abu Dhabi
From May to sep

2 hours

And here are some of the boats and what they call and a few information them:
